Tonbridge CAB expands service with £40,000 boost
The Citizens Advice service is using a £10m funding boost from the Government to extend its opening hours and ensure even more people can benefit from its free, independent and impartial advice.

Tonbridge CAB in River Walk, Tonbridge is one of over 340 bureaux benefiting from the funding which will support extra volunteers for Tonbridge and enable the bureau to offer longer outreach hours in Snodland, and new outreach services at Kings Hill and East Malling. The bureau predicts they will be able to advise an extra 4350 clients by the end of March 2010.

Welcoming the £40,000 cash injection - the highest amount available to an individual bureau - CAB Manager Angela Newey said: "This is a great vote of confidence in CAB advice.

Local communities need additional support right now and with this money we will be able to get out there and see more people."

"People on low and moderate incomes are struggling to make ends meet at a time of increasing uncertainty about job security and income. Access to reliable, high quality, free, independent advice has never been more vital."

She continues; "The new services will be coordinated by Gerry Pudney who is already training new advisers and finalising times and dates for our extended service."

The bureau will be promoting its opening hours via its website, through the local press and by posters and flyers placed in libraries, GP Practices, etc.
