Volunteer advisers at the CAB have varied backgrounds and experience but all have been through
the CAB training programme
Volunteering opportunities
We are looking for volunteers who would like to become gateway assessors.
Gateway assessors undertake shorter interviews usually on the telephone and sometimes in person and
are often the first point of contact for people who contact the CAB.
Full training will be given and no
prior knowledge is required.

DROP-IN SERVICE - A procedure has been introduced to minimise queue time:
If possible, it is recommended to come in to the bureau at about 9.45am, where you
will then be
seen at 10am or be given a scheduled time to return for an interview. This avoids having
to wait in the waiting room for long periods.
SHORT INTERVIEWS - When you ring the bureau for telephone advice or visit us for drop-in service, you may be given a short interview first to
help us to assess how best to help you.
ASSISTED INFORMATION - Advisers might be in interviews at this time, but we will try to help you find information which can help your problem.

EVENING ADVICE
By appointment only.
Available on the 1st Tuesday evening of each month, from 6pm to 8pm.
To book an appointment, please ring 01732 440 488 to leave your name and number and
an adviser will ring you back.
You may be given a short telephone interview to
ensure that an evening appointment is right for your problem. For instance, if we
will need to contact an agency or department that is only open in normal office hours,
a day advice session may be better.

CAB has a desk at the Gateway at the Council offices situated next to the entrance to Tonbridge Castle.
The Tonbridge Castle Gateway CAB desk offers an initial assessment of your enquiry and assisted information.
Problems requiring full advice may need to be referred to our main Tonbridge Bureau.
Open 10am to 1pm, Mon, Tues, Weds and Fri.

CAB has an outreach at Platform 51 in Tonbridge for people already attending there.
Anyone at Platform 51 interested in a CAB appointment should speak to the Platform 51 staff.
