Volunteer advisers at the CAB have varied backgrounds and experience but all have been through the CAB training programme


Volunteering opportunities

We are looking for volunteers who would like to become gateway assessors.

Gateway assessors undertake shorter interviews usually on the telephone and sometimes in person and are often the first point of contact for people who contact the CAB.

Full training will be given and no prior knowledge is required.

DROP-IN SERVICE - A procedure has been introduced to minimise queue time:

If possible, it is recommended to come in to the bureau at about 9.45am, where you will then be seen at 10am or be given a scheduled time to return for an interview. This avoids having to wait in the waiting room for long periods.


SHORT INTERVIEWS - When you ring the bureau for telephone advice or visit us for drop-in service, you may be given a short interview first to help us to assess how best to help you.

ASSISTED INFORMATION - Advisers might be in interviews at this time, but we will try to help you find information which can help your problem.

The CAB at Platform 51 (formerly YWCA) in Tonbridge

CAB has an outreach at Platform 51 in Tonbridge for people already attending there.

Anyone at Platform 51 interested in a CAB appointment should speak to the Platform 51 staff. Or you can ring 01732 440488. Leave your name and number and we will call you back to make the appointment.
